Charlie's Closet
Founded in 1998, this program offers medical equipment to anyone in need, ensuring helpful items stay in use and out of the landfill. Charlie McGowan, the board president of GIV at the time, who noticed the need for medical equipment in the local area. Carried forward by many dedicated volunteers over the years, the program continues to thrive through community generosity. Donated supplies are thoughtfully cleaned, safety-checked, and shared with community members seeking support.

Request Equipment​
​
The durable medical equipment that we provide ranges from canes, walkers, and commodes to wheelchairs and hospital beds. We also have soft goods available such as adult diapers and washable or disposable bed pads. There is a release fee of $1.00 per item, any monetary donation is also welcome.
Our primary focus is on the Guilford community because much of our annual funding comes from our local faith groups, the town of Guilford, and the Guilford Community Fund. However, we do also service clients throughout Connecticut and even beyond the borders of our state.
